Cooper City is known as “Someplace Special”, and it really is. My family and I have been living in Cooper City for over 20 years. My kids went to Cooper City schools and played sports in the Cooper City Optimist Club.
The city was founded 1959 and has a population of approximately 35,500. There are 6,237 homes in Cooper City and covers an area of 8.34 square miles. Currently the median value for a single-family home in Cooper City is $658,000.
Cooper City really is a great place to live. Every year in March the city celebrates Founder’s Day with a parade and a concert followed by a fireworks show to close out the event. They have many events throughout the year for people of all ages. There are also plenty of shops and restaurants, so you never have to go far for your needs or wants while still maintaining that small town feel.
Schools
One of the great things about Cooper City schools is that all Cooper City kids go to Cooper City schools. There are three elementary schools. Griffin Elementary, Embassy Creek Elementary, and Cooper City Elementary. These three elementaries are the only schools that feed into Pioneer Middle School. And Pioneer is the only school that feeds into Cooper City High School. So, by the time your child is in middle school they will get to meet all the other kids that live in Cooper City.
If you have ever researched great schools in south Florida, chances are Cooper City would pop up on your radar. Great schools is one of the draws Cooper City has for young families moving into the area.
There are also two charter schools located in Cooper City. They are Franklin Academy, which is a K-8 school, and Renaissance Charter School which covers K-12.
Parks
Cooper City is also well known for its parks. There are tons of parks in Cooper City. From small parks with kid’s playgrounds, to dog parks, to large sports complexes where kids can enjoy all kinds of sports.
The three biggest parks in Cooper City include:
Suellen H. Fardelman Sports Complex, which has facilities for baseball, football, soccer, basketball, and hockey.
Flamingo West Park Sports Complex is the newest addition to Cooper City, and it has facilities for football and soccer. It also has a very nice walking trail.
Bill Lips Sports Complex is the smaller of the three. It includes facilities for baseball, softball, and soccer. Flag football is also played in this park.
